How many cleansers do you have in your home? One of my pet peeves is the number of cleaning products that are marketed to people. Do you have a soap for the dishes, another for floors, shampoo for your hair, the dog, and on and on? I’ve narrowed down my soap collection to just Castile soap. It’s so versatile that you can use it to bathe a baby or clean the toilet. You don’t need every new cleaning product on the market. Not only are they environmentally unfriendly, but they don’t really clean any better than homemade recipes. Many people hesitate to use simple home-made cleansers because they feel it’s not really clean if you don’t use strong chemicals. In fact, the opposite is often true. Commercials cleansers often leave behind a residue for the dirt to cling to and the surface gets dirtier quicker.

The King Is Dead
In August 2008, comedien Bernie Mac aka the King of Comedy died at the young age of 50. Mac had worked in the industry for years but his career had begun to reach new heights with blockbusters like Bad Santa and Oceans Eleven. Mac struggled with the autoimmune disease sarcoidosis and died from complications of that and pneumonia. His death is somewhat controversial since it's believed his doctors treated him with immune system suppressing drugs. Whatever the cause of Mac's death, there are lessons to be learned about our own health.
Autumn’s Favorite Gourd
The Fall always brings a bountiful harvest of pumpkins. We usually only think of pumpkins in terms of pie, but they’re good for a lot more. As their deep orange color suggests, pumpkins are packed with vitamins A and C, potassium, dietary fiber, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, and many B vitamins. With all that nutrition, it seems a shame to simply use pumpkins for doorstep decorations.
